The processing time for traffic reports is usually 5 to 7 business days, excluding weekends and holidays. Some reports may take up to ten business days. Injury and fatal collision investigations may take several days to weeks to complete.

In Person Requests
Reports may be purchased in person at the Police Department between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Mail Requests
Reports may be obtained by mail by sending a written request to the Bakersfield Police Department. The request will include the Case Number, date the incident was reported, the name(s) of party(s) involved, and a telephone number to contact the requestor. Payment must be included if the requested report is a traffic collision.
Registration Unit
If you are court ordered to register as an offender, you must contact the Registration Unit at 661-326-3966 to schedule an appointment. If you do not schedule an appointment prior to coming to the Registration Unit, you may incur a long wait and may be required to schedule for a later time or day. The Bakersfield Police Department Registration Unit is located at 1601 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield. The hours for the Registration Unit are Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Offenses that may require registration include sex, arson, narcotics, and gang.
