This project is the first phase of the Centennial Corridor project, which will connect State Route 58 to the Westside Parkway. The Kern River Bridge Improvements will construct two new bridges, widen two existing bridges, and make various improvements to the existing Westside Parkway.
The contractor has constructed a new bridge across the Kern River for the future westbound exit to Mohawk Street as well as new crossings at Truxtun Avenue for the future mainline and for the Mohawk Street exit. The contractor is widening the existing eastbound bridge across the Kern River.
For horse and rider safety, the equestrian trail that runs along the north side of the river, between Mohawk Street and the railroad tracks, will remain closed through project completion. See Construction Updates for potential traffic impacts.
