Mayor and Councilmember Gray Officially Installed

In a special meeting held Tuesday, January 5, Mayor Karen Goh and newly-elected Ward 6 Councilmember Patty Gray were officially installed to their roles.

Both were sworn-in officially during the ceremony, which was limited in scope in order to limit the potential exposure to and spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Mayor Goh is beginning her second consecutive term after she was re-elected in March 2020. Her term expires in January 2025.

Gray succeeds Jacqui Sullivan, who vacated the seat as the longest-serving councilmember in Bakersfield City Council history. Her term expires in November 2024.

The full City Council is expected to meet as normal on Wednesday, January 6 at 5:15 p.m. at the City Council Chambers. That meeting will be closed to public in-person participation due to the state-imposed Regional Stay Home Order.

However, the public can provide public comment remotely (via voicemail message or email).
