Bakersfield Marathon Road Closures this Weekend

Closures expected to start as early as 4:30 a.m.

The Fourth Annual Bakersfield Marathon is set to hit the City streets on Sunday, November 17, and will require several street closures throughout the day.

The marathon is set to start at 7 a.m. from the California State University Campus on Stockdale Highway and head east to California Avenue.

Street closures will be conducted in four zones, starting as early as 4:30 a.m. and lasting as late as approximately 3 p.m.

Stockdale Highway between Gosford Road and Calloway Drive will be closed during the entire event.

There will also be temporary road closures affecting major roadways: Stockdale Highway, California Avenue, 24th Street, Beech Street, Chester Avenue, Garces Circle, West Columbus and Panorama Drive.

Other closures will be taking place in the downtown Bakersfield and East Bakersfield areas (see attached map below).

Bakersfield Police officers assigned to the marathon route will do their best to work with the citizens of Bakersfield in areas that will be most affected by the marathon route. It is the Department’s mission to make this a safe event for the participants of the marathon, as well as providing continued police service to the citizens of Bakersfield.
