The City of Bakersfield will hold its Third Annual Christmas Tree Lighting event on Saturday, November 30 at Centennial Plaza in front of Mechanics Bank (formerly Rabobank) Arena.
This year’s event will kick off at 4:30 p.m. and feature seasonal music, vendors selling food at reduced prices – including hot dogs for $1 – as well as a live nativity scene moving throughout the plaza.
Santa and Mrs. Claus are also expected to make an appearance during the festivities at 5 p.m., giving kids a chance to meet the Jolly Old Elf and his wife.
Mayor Karen Goh, as well as Councilmembers Andrae Gonzales (Ward 2) and Jacquie Sullivan (Ward 6) will speak during the event, followed by the official lighting of the tree by Mayor Goh.
Live Christmas carols and recorded music will continue to play following the lighting until 7 p.m.
Come join the fun and kick off the holiday season with the Sound of Something Better!
