The Bakersfield City Council is looking to fill vacancies on the Historic Preservation Commission and the Miscellaneous Civil Service Board and applications are now being accepted (see PDF attached below).
The position on the Historic Preservation Commission is for a three-year term. The vacancy is due to the expiration of Chery Long's term on March 30, 2020.
Members of the commission are nominated and appointed by the City Council and review applications for cultural resource designations and historic districts. The commission also presides and conducts public hearings on designation applications and makes recommendations to the City Council.
There are currently two vacancies on Miscellaneous Civil Service Board the Council is seeking to fill.
The positions are for three-year terms and became available after the term expirations of Michael A. Caves and Roy Maier on Dec. 31, 2019.
The board has the authority to enforce, interpret and formulate rules and regulations governing the procedures and conduct of employees affected by Civil Service.
Board members are nominated and appointed by the City Council.
Applications for these vacancies are available at the City Clerk's Office at City Hall North, 1600 Truxtun Avenue. You may also find an application on the City's website, bakersfieldcity.us.
Applications for the commission seat should be returned by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2020, for consideration.
Applications for the board vacancies will be accepted until an adequate number have been received to fill the positions.
