The contractor for the 24th Street Improvement Project will continue paving and striping operations at the 24th Street/Oak Street intersection this weekend. The work will require an around-the-clock closure from 9 p.m. Friday, February 14, through 5 a.m. Monday, February 17.
During the closure, one lane will remain open through the intersection for westbound traffic. Westbound traffic will not be able to turn south onto Oak Street.
In the eastbound direction, traffic will narrow down to one lane approaching the 24th Street/Oak Street intersection. Eastbound 24th Street will be closed between Oak Street and D Street. Eastbound traffic will be diverted south onto Oak Street at the intersection. Northbound Oak Street will be closed between 21st Street and Oak Street. Eastbound traffic and northbound-to-eastbound traffic will need to use Truxtun Avenue to travel east to F Street then north to the 23rd Street/24th Street corridor. Detour signage will be in place.
Construction work may be postponed and rescheduled without notice due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Please slow down and watch for construction workers and equipment while driving through the work zone. The Thomas Roads Improvement Program apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause the traveling public.
