More than two dozen new employees joined the City of Bakersfield on Monday, March 2, including 24 Bakersfield Fire Department trainees and the new City Manager, Christian Clegg.
The fire trainees and Clegg were sworn-in together at the City Council Chambers at City Hall South Monday morning. After that, they took part in their orientation for the remainder of the day.
Just last week, the City of Bakersfield was ranked 138th out of the Milken Institute's top 200 Best-Performing U.S. Cities. The City's one-year job creation rate was an important factor in that ranking, which landed Bakersfield just three spots behind San Francisco in that category.
