Following recommendations from the Office of the Governor of California, the Bakersfield Police Department is taking precautionary measures in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). The purpose of these measures is to ensure the health and safety of our community members and public safety officers.
At this time, there will be no changes to any of our call for service response protocols. As a reminder, we have telephonic and online reporting systems in place to aid in responding to service requests that are not emergencies, or that are no longer in progress. The community is encouraged to continue to use these reporting platforms in order to preserve public safety availability for emergencies.
As always, if you need immediate police assistance, the fire department or medical aid, call 9-1-1. For non-emergencies, please contact the Bakersfield Police Department Communications Center at (661) 327-7111. We will be postponing all department sponsored community events, programs and presentations until further notice. All civilian ride-a-longs, and police building tours are postponed as well. We are requesting the public’s cooperation when they call emergency services to alert public safety personnel if they have symptoms consistent with COVID-19. This will assist units in responding in an appropriate manner to prevent the spread of illness. The Kern County Public Health Department has not reported any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the City of Bakersfield, or Kern County.
Our lobby counter services at the Bakersfield Police Department Headquarters (1601 Truxtun Avenue) and at our Westside Substation (1301 Buena Vista Road) are unavailable until further notice. We are making every effort to continue providing important administrative services to our community.

Complaint Against an Officer- Please call 661-326-3800 to be directed to our Internal Affairs Detail. Complaint forms are also available on our website. The Internal Affairs Detail is located at 1501 Truxtun Office. Services will continue to be available Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Correctable Violation Citations (fix-it tickets)/ Warrant Cites- Please contact an officer in the field for inspections related to correctable vehicle violation citations or to receive a new court date for a misdemeanor warrant.
