No Changes to Bakersfield Police Responses to Calls for Service

BPD continues to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls

The City of Bakersfield understands this is an uncertain time and the public may be afraid, but the Bakersfield Police Department remains committed to being available and responsive to the public’s safety and criminal justice needs.

The Bakersfield Police Department remains an essential service provided by the City of Bakersfield and no changes have been made to responses to any calls for service at this time.

The Department continues to operate as normal, with the exception of nonessential programs and events and the lobbies at Headquarters at 1601 Truxtun Avenue and at the Westside Substation at 1301 Buena Vista Road. Those lobbies where closed to the public temporarily as of March 12.

The Department’s dispatchers continue to work and take calls from the public and officers continue to respond to those calls. Emergency calls are prioritized, as they always are.

Whenever possible, if you are reporting a non-emergency or something that can wait, please contact the Department on the non-emergency phone line at 661-327-7111, or online at https://bakersfieldcity.us/gov/depts/police/crime/report_crime_non_emergency.htm.
