Road Work on 24th Street Planned

Median excavation starts April 13

Roadway excavation will be underway for the new 24th Street median next week, April 13-17.

The contractor plans to work between the Kern River Bridge and Oak Street Monday through Wednesday. This work will require the closure of one eastbound and one westbound lane between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Motorists should anticipate delays through the intersection and are encouraged to take alternate routes or allow extra time to reach their destinations.

On Thursday and Friday, the contractor plans to work within the median area between Beech Street and Bay Street. Both lanes are expected to remain open in each direction on 24th Street, but motorists should watch for trucks entering and leaving the work zone while driving through this area.

Construction work may be postponed and rescheduled without notice due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Please slow down and watch for construction workers and equipment while driving through the work zone. The Thomas Roads Improvement Program apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause the traveling public.
