The contractor for the 24th Street Improvement Project plans to pave eastbound 23rd Street and westbound 24th Street between Bay Street and D Street tomorrow, June 2, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. At least one lane will remain open to traffic in each direction, but motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes or allow extra time to reach their destinations if they must travel through this section of 24th Street during this time period.
On Sunday night, June 7, alternating lane and intersection closures are scheduled along 24th Street between D Street and M Street to allow traffic to be switched onto the new pavement on the north side of the roadway. This work is scheduled to occur between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The traffic switch will allow work to commence along the south side of 24th Street.
One westbound lane is expected to remain open during the traffic switch. This work is not expected to impact eastbound traffic on 23rd Street.
Construction work may be postponed and rescheduled without notice due to unforeseen circumstances. Please slow down and watch for construction workers and equipment while driving through the work zone. The Thomas Roads Improvement Program apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause the traveling public.
