Progress Continues at New Homeless Navigation Center

Escrow has closed, improvement projects underway

We have keys!

The City of Bakersfield is excited to announce the next step in the process of opening a new navigation center to address the growing homelessness problem.

Escrow recently closed on the City's purchase of the former Calcot, Ltd. headquarters, making the City the sole owner of the facility at 1900 E. Brundage Lane.

Progress continues to be made on the project, with several steps underway to transition the former cotton collective to a homeless navigation center featuring wrap-around services for clients to get them on a path to permanent housing.

Passersby may have noticed a fresh coat of paint on the outside, as well as a new roof. There are also some exciting renovations happening inside as well, with City crews re-configuring the existing warehouse facilities into new dormitories, two dayrooms, a full-service laundry, shower facilities, and much more.

The work continues around the clock and the project is on track to open in the Fall as planned.
