City Council Approves Rental/Mortgage Assistance Program Agreement
Housing Authority of the County of Kern will administer the program
The Bakersfield City Council met as scheduled Wednesday, September 9. Mayor Goh and six councilmembers attended the meeting in person and one councilmember participated remotely.
During the meeting, the City Council voted:
- 7-0 (consent calendar) to approve an agreement with the Housing Authority of the County of Kern (HACK) for rental and mortgage assistance program to help residents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The City Council previously approved the allocation of $5 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding for such a program, a portion of the $33.5 million allocated to the City by the State.
- 7-0 to approve a contribution of $83,175 in Public Safety & Vital Services (PSVS) – Measure N – funds to the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce in support of the Better Bakersfield and Boundless Kern Initiative (B3K). This partnership with the B3K Prosperity Project will help lead to increased quality of life for Bakersfield residents.

- 7-0 to uphold the appeal by the Bakersfield Heart Hospital of the Project Roomkey Conditional Use Permit at the Rosedale Inn, thus denying the CUP for that location.
