Nighttime Detour on California Avenue Planned

Nighttime freeway closures next week

Work will continue tonight on the bridge falsework at California Avenue between Marella Way and Easton Drive. Flagging personnel will detour traffic around the work zone between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Both directions of travel will be affected by this work. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use Stockdale Highway or Truxtun Avenue for east-west travel during this time period.

Full nighttime closures are planned for State Route 99 next week to remove falsework from the westbound State Route 58/State Route 99 separation bridge. Full closures are expected to be in effect between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night, but the contractor will begin closing lanes at 9 p.m.

Northbound State Route 99 is scheduled to be closed on Sunday, September 20 and Monday, September 21. Northbound traffic will be detoured onto eastbound State Route 58 to Union Avenue. Motorists will exit at Union Avenue and return westbound to re-enter northbound State Route 99. Wible Road between Brundage Lane and Belle Terrace will also be closed on Monday and Tuesday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists can use H Street to detour around the Wible Road closure.

Southbound State Route 99 is scheduled to be closed Tuesday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 23. The westbound State Route 58-to-southbound State Route 99 connector ramp will also be closed on these nights. Southbound traffic will exit the freeway at Stockdale Highway and travel east to Union Avenue, south to Ming Avenue, then west on Ming Avenue to reconnect with southbound State Route 99.

A freeway closure may be in place in this area on Thursday night, if necessary.

Construction schedules may be changed without notice due to unforeseen circumstances. The Thomas Roads Improvement Program apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause the traveling public.
