Additional $2M Available Through B-CARES Program

Small business owners have until 5 p.m. December 11 to apply

The City of Bakersfield is asking any small business owner interested in receiving a grant from the City’s B-CARES program apply before Friday, Dec. 11, 2020 at 5 p.m.

An additional $2 million in federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds has been made available for local businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The application and eligibility information can be found on the City’s website here.

The City originally set aside $3 million in CARES Act funds for the B-CARES program. Since the program launched in September, the City has awarded nearly $2 million in grants to more than 300 local small businesses.

Based on demand, the City will be shifting an additional $2 million of CARES Act funds into the B-CARES Program, which is anticipated to fund the remaining eligible applications. The additional funding is being allocated from other CARES Act-funded programs the City has undertaken that have realized savings. All CARES Act funding must be expended by the end of the calendar year.
