City's Longest-Serving Councilmember Ends Tenure

Councilmember Sullivan Honored at Final Council Meeting

The longest-serving City Councilmember in Bakersfield history has officially ended her tenure.

Jacquie Sullivan, who joined the Council representing Ward 6 after her election in 1995, was honored at the December 16 City Council meeting, her last in a 25-year career of civil service.

The City and Council, as well as State legislators, presented Sullivan with numerous recognitions, plaques and resolutions – including a key to the City and the Mayor's Medal.

Patty Gray was elected in November to succeed Sullivan as the Ward 6 representative. Gray was unable to attend the City Council's most recent meeting and will be officially sworn-in at a later date.
