After more than a decade and a half of service to the City of Bakersfield, Dianne Hoover is retiring as the City's Recreation & Parks Director.
Hoover's service was recognized at the December 16 City Council meeting.
In her 15 years with Bakersfield, Hoover has overseen the addition of 13 new parks – including Bridle Creek Park most recently in October – as well as the maintenance of 61 total parks across the City. She also led the department’s efforts in adding major parks projects such as the Kaiser Permanente Sports Village, which is expected to bring youth sports tournaments and related income to the City in the future.
Overall, Hoover has spent 45 years in the parks and recreation industry.
The City of Bakersfield thanks her for her service, commitment and guidance and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors.
